Architectural Photographer — Byron Bay & Northern Rivers

Diego Giannicola is an architectural photographer based in Byron Bay, specialising in residential and commercial architecture photography across the Northern Rivers, Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Australia wide.

With a background in carpentry and a deep sensitivity to structure, material, and natural light, Diego approaches each project with a precision that goes beyond technical skill. Every image is composed to communicate the full intent of the design — how a building sits in its landscape, how light moves through a space, and how materials respond at different times of day.

Working closely with architects and builders across Byron Bay and the Northern Rivers, Diego's architectural photography has documented projects ranging from intimate hinterland retreats to large-scale residential builds on the NSW coast. His work supports award submissions, portfolio documentation, and project marketing, providing refined imagery that accurately represents the quality and vision behind each build.

Based in Byron Bay. Available across the Northern Rivers, Tweed Coast, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, and Australia wide.

What areas do you cover for architectural photography?
Based in Byron Bay, I work regularly across the Northern Rivers — including Bangalow, Brunswick Heads, Mullumbimby, Lennox Head, and Ballina — as well as the Tweed Coast, Gold Coast, and Brisbane. I'm available Australia wide for the right projects.

Do you work with architects directly or only through builders?
Both. I work directly with architects, interior designers, and builders. Many of my projects involve close collaboration with the design team to understand the intent behind the space before the shoot begins.

Do you offer drone photography for architectural projects?
Yes. Drone photography is included in my full day packages and available as a standalone service. It's particularly effective for larger residential projects, rural properties, and builds where site context is part of the design story.
