Interior Photographer — Byron Bay & Northern Rivers
Diego Giannicola is an interior photographer based in Byron Bay, working with interior designers, architects, and developers across the Northern Rivers, Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Australia wide.
Good interior photography does more than document a finished room. It communicates intent — the decisions behind the material selections, the relationship between furniture and architecture, the quality of natural light at a particular time of day. Diego's approach is grounded in this understanding: each image is composed to give the viewer a genuine sense of the space, not just a record of it.
His interior photography work spans a wide range of project types — from intimate private residences and hinterland retreats to luxury boutique hotels and high-end commercial interiors across Byron Bay and the Northern Rivers. Clients include leading interior designers and architecture studios, with work featured across social media, editorial publications, and award submissions.
The result is imagery that reflects the full quality of the design — refined, light-filled, and built to serve the designer's portfolio as much as the project itself.

Do you work with interior designers directly?
Yes — the majority of my interior photography is commissioned by or in close collaboration with the interior designer. I review the design intent and key spaces before the shoot to ensure the final imagery accurately represents the work.
What's the best time of day to photograph interiors?
It depends on the orientation of each space. I plan shoots around the natural light conditions at the property — early morning light works beautifully in east-facing rooms, while afternoon light transforms west-facing spaces. For most full-day shoots, I'll work through the property as the light moves.
Do you shoot interiors that haven't been styled?
I prefer to shoot spaces that have been dressed and styled, as it significantly elevates the final result. For clients who need styling support, I can recommend trusted stylists in the Northern Rivers who I've worked with on previous projects.
