Raes on Wategos — Hotel Photography Byron Bay

Raes on Wategos sits at the northern tip of Wategos Beach in Byron Bay, one of the most sheltered and beautiful beaches in Australia. It's a property that has defined a certain kind of luxury: intimate, unhurried, and deeply connected to its coastal setting. Every element of the experience, from the architecture to the interior design, has been considered with the same precision.

The interiors at Raes were designed by Sydney based interior designer Tamsin Johnson, whose work is characterised by a refined layering of antique pieces, natural materials, and a sensitivity to the way spaces feel rather than just how they look. Photographing these spaces required the same attentiveness to the quality of morning light through a sheer curtain, to the texture of linen against stone, to the way the ocean sits in the background of nearly every view.

This series of hotel photography shoots at Raes on Wategos has been among the most significant work of my career, not only because of the calibre of the venue, but because of what it demanded. Luxury hospitality photography at this level is not about making a room look appealing. It's about communicating the full experience of being there.

The imagery from these shoots has been widely shared across social media, consistently reaching audiences well beyond the local market, reflecting the strength of the design and the venue's standing in the Australian hospitality landscape.

If you're looking for hotel photography in Byron Bay or across the Northern Rivers, I'd love to discuss your project.
